The ESA BICs info day by Kvarken Space Economy was organised in January!
The EU Interreg Botnia-Atlantica project Kvarken Space Economy organised an info day webinar on 18.1.2022 with the European Space Agency (ESA) Business Incubation Centres (BIC) in Finland and Sweden. The webinar gathered people interested in the funding opportunities related to New Space and the Kvarken Space Center ecosystem. The webinar had almost 60 participants.
Heidi Kuusniemi (Director, Professor, University of Vaasa) presented activities and goals of the Kvarken Space Economy project to the audience. Kimmo Isbjörnssund (Head of Office, ESA BIC Finland) and Jens Lundström (Managing Director, ESA BIC Sweden) presented generally what ESA BICs are doing and providing to their customers. Then the participants were split into breakout rooms to discuss in more details of the funding and supportive opportunities provided by ESA BIC’s in each country.
The second part of the info day included introduction to Kvarken Space Center’s ecosystem development, presented by Jari Ratilainen (Project Manager, Vaasa University of Applied Sciences and Design Centre MUOVA & West Coast Startup). The participants were virtually involved to discuss about the local needs of the ecosystem and the activities. Especially networking opportunities were requested and sharing of the information. One of the aims of the Kvarken Space Economy project is to establish ecosystem, a hub, to connect professionals, companies and organisations interested in using satellite data and satellite technology as part of their business.
